Chris Dahlberg's Daintree River Tours and cruises are easily the best way to see wildlife on your visit here. It is also a wonderful way for you to see and hear the rainforest without treading all over it. In the tropics the dawn envelope does not last a long time and it is crucial for you to start at first light. Go any later and you will not get the best out of your visit.

The reputation that the Daintree now enjoys for wildlife viewing and birdwatching can be largely attributed to this tour. Chris pioneered small group tours with dawn departures and the use of a vessel without a roof back in 1992. You will see an average of 50 wildlife species on the two hour tour and a list of those wildlife sightings for your particular tour is uploaded to this web site before lunch the same day. Chris exploits the early morning ambience and the absence of other tourists by departing from the Daintree Village jetty at dawn.

The wildlife viewing vessel can access the more interesting parts of the river system; for instance, under the Barratt Creek bridge into the Daintree rainforest , adding to the mystique of this interesting Daintree River tour. Daintree is tropical but still has distinct seasons. Showing wildlife, in the wild, is a big aspect of our tour and we have wildlife records from 1992 that shows the wildlife by season. There is a distinct wet season early in the calendar year and we close from late January starting again at Easter. Pickup Details are as follows-

Drive to the Daintree Village, find the General store and the jetty is 100 metres downhill. Ignore all other cruise departure places ( there are 3 of them) on the way to the Daintree Village. Please Note this is a 2 hour tour.
